Today is World Hunger Day. A day that has come around, yet again, and the world is no closer to a solution that everyone can stand behind.
Can the entire world stand behind one plan of action? Realistically? No, but we can try to come together on a few issues.
For me, and I can only speak for myself, these include:
- Education, for everyone, but more importantly for woman. Why, because woman are for the most part the ones that are the primary caregivers. We teach, impart culture, beliefs, right from wrong, etc. If women are ignorant & not given a voice, the society is ignorant & voiceless.
- Teaching people a skill, a craft. Ties in with education. Not everyone is going to be a white collar worker, but we all need to be able to take care of ourselves and our families. Money is tight or non-existent for many around the world. Being able to grow your own food. Or trade items for food is the only way that many people can survive. Money, skill, or a trade is needed.
- Birth control. Well how can you afford birth control if you don't have money for food or seeds to grow the food. Or water to grow the crops. The government has to step in. (I'm keeping it very simple.) When you don't have money, jobs, food, hope, lets face it, there isn't much else to do. Let's not make the situation worse by having kids we can't afford to look after. Don't yell at the screen, I know it's more in-depth, then I'm writing but I'm just bullet pointing.
What are your thoughts on World Hunger Day? Will we ever see change in our lifetime?
Is anyone else watching Game of Thrones? I love that show. Normally I try to read the book(s) first, but if I do, it will be after the series is concluded. I hate how short the seasons are. I am glad that the battles have begun. It will be interesting to see which kingdoms fall and which ones prevail. I am disappointed that they was so little focus on Daenerys Targaryen and her crew. I am a little obsessed with dragons and wish her character was in every episode.
As for that psycho Joffrey, would someone please kill him off. Now he's just annoying me with his tantrums. Running back to mommy because he's scared and fighting isn't as fun as he thought it would be. What a wuss. I was happily surprised that Joffrey's 1st knight? told him to basically piss off. He just looked around at the fighting and decided it wasn't worth dying for. I hope that he escapes.
Tyrion Lannister, I can't decide whether I like his character or not. He's a great strategist, yet feels no shame at doing wrong to get what he wants. I guess I'll decide by the end of the season. That was funny to see how hard he tried to get his nephew Joffrey out on the battle field. Let's face it, if Joffrey was fighting with his men, he wouldn't have lasted 2 minutes. Thoughts?
