What the weather will probably be like.
What I hope the weather, will certainly not be like.

The Christmas fairs are in full swing, across the Vancouver, BC area. I'm only going to fairs that have free entrances, though. Yes I know the venues cost money, but when I'm not sure if I will buy anything, paying doesn't sit right with me. I'll be heading out to a free to enter fair this weekend with friends. Check out the link to learn more. Plus, it's a night market and I haven't been to one before. I'm not really going to shop, I'm just interested in what the artsy scene, in this part of Canada, is like. Plus, I made a promise to myself to try and do something social, once a week. Getting out doesn't always happen because being wrapped up and warm on the couch can be very tempting when the rain has been pouring down all day. So yeah, for anti-social me.

My first podcast is up. I'll have links up, when it's posted to the various other media platforms. Who knew the process would be so complicated?

Healthier Sweet Potato Bread

Healthier Sweet Potato Bread


  • 7 oz fresh sweet potato puree
  • 16 oz unbleached all purpose flour
  • *3.139 oz oatmeal flakes
  • 3 tbsp ground golden flax seed
  • 3 tbsp psyllium husk
  • 3 tbsp toasted and ground pumpkin seeds
  • 1 oz melted coconut oil
  • 1 oz **liquid honey or sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 2.5 tsp instant yeast or 2 tsp traditional yeast
  • 3.5 fl oz of warm water to dissolve yeast and sugar or honey


  1. Mix all of the dry ingredients together in a large bowl.
  2. Then add wet ingredients. Mix together and knead about 5-10 minutes, until dough is smooth and elastic.
  3. Put in a greased, large bowl, covered. Let rise until doubled, in a warm place, for about 1 hour.
  4. Punch down lightly, shape and put in greased baking dish. Let rise about 1/2 hour.
  5. Bake in pre-heated oven at 350°F for about 35 minutes, or until bread is browned, starting to pull away from sides of pan, or when it sounds hollow when rapped with knuckles. Oven times and temperatures will vary. Keep on eye on the bread!
  6. Leave in pan for 5-ish minutes, then let cool completely on cooling rack. Or enjoy bread warm!


* I used 3 individual packets of oatmeal, because I thought it was a little too finely milled, to eat as cereal. Again use what you have, don't run out to the store if it's not necessary.

** I used liquid honey for more health benefits.
