Mid-Week Happenings

Yesterday was a bit of a mess. Sitting at the border & an idiot smacks right into the back of the car. On their phone/fiddling and not paying attention. Minor damage, but enough that the car has to go in for repairs. People. Get. Off. Of. Your. Phone. When. Driving! No phone call is that important. And if it is, pull over/stop/turn off your car. Police really need to start enforcing the hands free policy, with major fines. (I realise that the laws are  different, depending on the country, province or state, but common sense, is common sense.) No first chances either. Why? Because you shouldn't have been on your phone in the first place. Can you tell I have no tolerance for that crap?

No one was hurt, so that's good. Well, except the lady's bank account, but that's her problem. So I'm moving on, thankful that I woke up this morning no worse for the wear.

A really nice cop in Detroit helped us because we got lost. Told him where we wanted to go and he led the way in his police car. I think he was a little bored. Thanks, though!

Is it bad that every time I go to/pass through Detroit, I'm surprised at the amount of black (my people, if you don't know) people that I see? I'm not used to it. I grew up & now live in a very homogeneous (Caucasian) city. It's different for my eyes, that's all I'm saying. Although, I should be used to the different hues, since I spent 7 years in Windsor.

How do you feel about people talking/texting while driving? Or do you do that on a regular basis?

Mid-Week Slump
Roses are up! Where the heck was I? I missed the start of the bloom completely.

Till next time,

Well  join the club. I think I was in my late 20's before I got my first cell phone. Which I did not purchase because I just had to have the latest one, I got it for safety reasons. I worked late and half of the time by myself. If I was walking home at 1:30am I wanted a little safety net. (I know, there's nothing safe about walking alone at 1:30am and I didn't do it for very long but that's a different topic). I should also amend my writing by saying that the cell phone was purchased for me.

The art of texting. I don't have it. When I did have a cell phone it would take me 5 minutes just to type a couple of lines. Whatever. I let that inadequacy go along time ago.

The latest model. I had no desire to keep trading in my phone for the newest model. That I don't get. Who cares what the latest model looks like. Did your other phone not do the job? Whether it's a cell phone or fashion, I just don't get it. Buy what you want because you actually want it, not because someone tells you, you should have it. Okay I'm going off topic, let's bring it back.

Laptop, in her healthier more robust days

It was another year or so before I got my first laptop. Now sitting broken and battered in a drawer. I'm promising myself that the next one is going to be a Mac. I'm secretly hoping that the price is going to drop and be comparable to a PC or that I will get gifted with one. Yes, I will hold onto that dream.

Than it was another year before I got my first MP3 player and no it wasn't an iPod. My MP3 player is still being used but I think is coming to the end of its road. But it does hold a load of music and audio books for a really great price. Finding something new is a task I'm not looking forward to.

Cell phones, E-Readers, MP3-players etc. Why do we need so many of them? I'm looking

RIP, Lappy

for one gadget that can do it all. Make a phone call; play music/audiobooks; let me read; let me type; have Wi-Fi and most importantly of all have long-lasting battery life. Is there a device that can do all of that and that's at a reasonable price? A camera/video cam would be a nice addition but I need high pixels and great resolution and I guess I would have to carry around 2 gadgets instead of one. Hardship, I know.

I have very little interest in watching all of those tech shows to figure it out. I've tried and quite honestly I get bored, therefore turning the channel, or stopping the video before anything interesting happens. Well, at least what I deem interesting. Reviews can sometimes be hard to decipher, from the shear volume alone. So I usually  go by the reputation a company and hope for the best.

Just tell me the gist of it, I have better things to do

Are you a gadget freak? Always have to have the latest technology? Or are you fine with having 10 different piece of equipment for all of your entertainment uses? Let me know with a comment below.
