Sunbathing, while grooming on the rocks.
Sunbathing, while grooming on the rocks.
  • It will probably be another working weekend but I have to keep on hustling. I had a work-related disappointment earlier this week, when a writing contract/deal fell through. (Not the first time.) Especially after busting my butt for several previous days. I'm used to it, anyone who is a freelancer knows this is how it is. Even those who have a book deal. Deals come, they may start, they may go. I'm not dwelling because I have other projects to work on, but to say I'm not disappointed would be a lie. I have to believe that everything happens for a reasons and something else will come along.

Update: The baby Robin which I'm positive was freshly kicked out OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAof the nest last week, came back for rest? I thought he was injured but I went outside to make sure, and he eventually flew off. Not quick enough though, if I was an outdoor cat or a mean Blue Jay he would have been dead or beaten up. When he did get up, I noticed that he was sitting in a nice pile of his own #2. Yuck. He better get it together or he will not make it through the summer. Doesn't he look pathetic?

  • I also went to the river-front this week, for the first time since Winter and it was a sad mess. A good portion is closed off, because of asbestos found in tested earth. Courtesy of factories in the past (some closed) dumping garbage, chemicals, and who knows what else. That's nice to know that children (myself included) in the past and present have been rolling around, sledding and doing whatever else, throughout their childhood. Just great. As if the air in my city wasn't deadly enough. No joke on that, world-wide my city is high on the pollution list.

-I was also upset about the lack of baby ducks and geese that are usually plentiful around the area. Maybe they'll come and I'm still a little early but even the adult crowd seemed smaller. The usual hangout is partially cut off, by those green metal fences. Just sad and a huge reminder that companies in the present and future need to be mindful of their actions and how it will effect the future. Animals and people.

A huge section of beautiful waterfront, contaminated by laziness & greed.
This section is normally weed free and full of sunbathing birds.
On my way out & really quite sad.

Till next time,

This post is completely random but it's been on my mind so I'm writing about it. Here I go.

Do the words that are coming out of my mouth, hinder, hurt or contribute in a positive way. I'm not talking about normal conversation. I'm not talking about joking around with your friends. Everyone is different. Every situation is different. You have to learn how to gauge the flow of a conversation, as you live and learn through life.

All I'm saying is that when you're speaking to someone just think, for a second before you let the words fly. I'm not talking about sugar-coating what you have to say. Or not speaking the truth, when the truth needs to be spoken. But just speaking for the sake of speaking. Or speaking to get a reaction. Or speaking to bring attention to yourself, whether you are conscious of this or not. It's really not okay.

Does your question, answer, or observation have a point? Is it something that really needs to be out in the universe? Is someone getting hurt or feeling bad about themselves really worth it?

Example from a long time ago, that I obviously think about from time to time. It doesn't bother me anymore, but when I think about the pointless things that people spew out of their mouths, this often comes to mind.

"Your nose is weird. It's like someone took a normal nose and squished it."

Really? I had nothing to say back then. Now I would just ask them, "what the point of their statement is". Or my latest thing is to not answer or just leave the room. If I do answer it's not going to be nice or productive, so saying nothing is often better for me and my karma. I do have to work on my stink-eye, though. You all know that looks can often speak more than words.

Pointless statements/questions are like asking someone:

  • Why water is wet?
  • Why does rain fall from the sky, instead of up from the ground?
  • Why is the earth round?

I have no idea, because I had no hand in the creation of it. Just like I had no hand in why my nose is shaped the way it is.

That's it. My mind is clear and I can move on with the rest of my day.

What do you do when people say unbelievable or just plain stupid things to you?
