Kai's 1st day home was 4 years ago! It was exciting, nerve-wracking, and a new adventure for our up-to-then pet-free family. I've never had a pet growing up, so this was a new experience for us all.
It's been 4 years of trials & tribulations & unconditional love. A few scratch marks, to commemorate Kai forever. A weekly stink eye, when she doesn't get want she wants, like being able to lay across my laptop. Or a sulky look, because she's longing to be an outdoor cat, still. But the few times when it's just the 2 of us I wouldn't trade for the world. This past, almost 2 weeks, has been rough, with much of my time spent immobile. Kai coming up to my room, laying on my chest, with her arms wrapped around my neck, makes it all worth while. She hasn't done that since she was a kitten and I really needed it because I was feeling completely grumpy& miserable. She knows when I really need her, not just when I wish she was there.
Does anyone else celebrate the day they brought home their animal companions?
Quick note, she got some catnip bubbles and is afraid of it. She'll throw herself at the window in her attempt to fight the passing cats, but she backs away in fear from the horrible bubbles. So much for her special treat. Oh well.
Kai was gifted with a cat tree/scratcher or Treedo as my sister named it. Call it a necessity or a gift for World Cat Day that passed on August 8th. Lucky and happy kitty! There hasn't been any scratching of the furniture, while watching me in eyes, since she got her Treedo. Happy cat= happy household & furniture. I also noticed the muscles in her legs have gotten bigger from her scaling up the side of the Treedo, like spider-cat. I think it makes her feel like she's a panther in the jungles of India. I'll try and get some video of her adventures and post them, it's pretty funny.
Treedo was barely in the door before Kai had to investigate.
Vigorous scenting commences.
Upgraded view (moving on up).
Seems pretty content with her Treedo to me.
It's Black Cat Appreciation Day! So just saying I appreciate all of you, if you could understand what I mean, being a cat and all 😉 Have a great Friday & enjoy your weekend!
