Simple Cat Treats - Chicken & Sardines Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 can no salt added Chicken or 1 can plain, no oil added Sardines
  • 1 tbsp chopped Parsley
  • 1 tbsp dried Catnip
  • 1 tbsp Brewers Yeast
  • 1/2 cup Whole Wheat Flour, plus extra flour for rolling
  • 1 Whole Egg

Instructions

  1. Pre-heat oven to 335°F.
  2. Prepare 1 or 2 large baking sheets with parchment paper. Or use a non-stick baking pan.
  3. Measure out your ingredients.
  4. Save the liquid from the canned chicken or sardines, to use, if the mixture is too dry.
  5. Mix all of the dry ingredients together, in a small bowl.
  6. Break up the chicken or the sardines.
  7. Put all ingredients in a food processor.
  8. Pulse in food processor, until mixed and a ball starts forming.
  9. (You can also mix this by hand, it will just take a little longer. MIx all the ingredients, without the egg and flour, to break up everything as much as possible. Then add the egg and flour, just to bring mixture together. Then continue to the next step.)
  10. No need, to knead the mixture, this is not bread.
  11. Divide the mixture into 4 equal pieces.
  12. On a lightly floured surface, roll out 1 piece until it is approximately 1/8 inch in thickness.
  13. Cut out in any shape you desire or use a cookie cutter. The size is your choice.
  14. Repeat with the remaining 3 pieces.
  15. Place on baking sheets, so treats are not touching.
  16. Bake for around 40 minutes. Flipping halfway through to make sure they bake evenly on both sides. Oven time will vary. Watch them.
  17. You do not want the treats to be brick hard. As they cool they will harden a little more.
  18. If they still feel damp or have a damp spot, put them back in the oven for another 5-10 minutes.
  19. Cool completely and keep in an airtight container.

My favourite commercial sauces/marinades that I use & love:

You can find Pickapeppa Sauce in a West Indian store in Canada, for a decent price. Online is too expensive in Canada.

Where to buy online in the US @ amazon.com: Pickapeppa Sauce - 5oz
